Bonna Lee Loy

Funeral services for Bonna Loy, age 89, of Kyle, and formerly Leon County, will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, August 26, 2018, at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. Following the chapel service, Mrs. Loy will be laid to rest in the High Prairie Cemetery in rural Madison County. A public visitation will take place Sunday from 10 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Bonna Lee Loy was born August 9, 1929 in Leon County, Texas. Her parents were Marshall Guy & Osie Lee (Carter) Sandel. She had a teaching certificate but worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s various businesses. Bonna was a florist with a very green thumb and a breeder of exotic animals, raising champion pot bellied pigs. She was also an avid fisherman, always catching fish when no one else could. Bonna enjoyed watching QVC on television and ordering whatever she wanted. She was Baptist in faith and had lived in Leon County for fifty-four years before moving to Kyle.

Bonna passed away August 23, 2018 in Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, J.R. Loy; son, Rodney Hollis; step-father, Virgil Gustavus; sister, Beaulah Ada Youngblood; granddaughter, Alicia Hollis and son-in-law, Leroy Boyd.

She is survived by daughters, Brenda Boyd of Glenrose and Karen Hollis of Kyle; three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.
