Allen Lang Sanders

Funeral services for Allen Lang Sanders, age 92, of Madisonville, Texas will be held 10 A.M., Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Willowhole Cemetery Chapel near North Zulch, Texas. Minister Jim Graham will officiate the service. Interment will take place in Willowhole Cemetery following the service.

Al was born June 26, 1930 in North Zulch, Texas to Frank M. & Susan (Lang) Sanders. He served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict even before being able to graduate from high school. One occasion that always meant the world to Al was that many years later, he and his fellow servicemen were invited back to North Zulch High School to be presented with an honorary high school diploma. It was an honor that Al never forgot.

Al was a gifted carpenter and always had a project going. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. No matter how busy Al was in life, he always took time to help other people with anything, especially carpentry projects. He had lived most of his life in Madison County and was Baptist in faith.

Al passed away peacefully in the presence of the Lord July 31, 2022 in Marlin, Texas. He was the last surviving child of nine born to their parents. Allen was preceded in death by both of his parents; eight siblings; first wife, Evelyn; son, Robert; second wife, Leona and step-son, Leo Dill.

Surviving family members include son, Terry Sanders (Kim) of Madisonville, Texas; daughter, Kathy Handy (Noble) of Millican, Texas; step-children, Kimmie Portz (Chuck) of Willis, Texas, Berry Martinez (Bernie) of Tucson, AZ, Lola Padgett (Steven) of Madisonville, Texas, Joey Dill (KC) of Carlsbad, NM and Ruth Dill of Louisiana; seven grandchildren and numerous step-
grandchildren.
