God called Anna Marie Lena (Reiser) Schramm McDonald, age eighty-two, to eternal rest on February 9, 2024. She was a devoted Christian Catholic and her faith was extremely important to her. Anna Marie was born to George and Susan Semsok Reiser in Manhattan, New York on November 19, 1941.
While living up north (NY & NJ), she worked at the telephone company counting coins collected from telephone booths, and then became a veterinary assistant. She spent time with relatives on a dairy farm where she learned the love of cooking and how to make meals from scratch to include making butter. Adventures included traveling with her family around the Good USA, and taking pride in raising and showing champion AKC registered Irish Setters.
In 1976, Texas fulfilled her remaining dreams. Between Conroe and Madisonville Texas, she raised her children (adopted, step, and sponsored), farm animals, horses and married her retired special forces "cowboy" of her dreams. She made a home for many dogs and cats and supported shelter/rescue animals through Rufus Refuge. She was an avid hunter. This intelligent, hard-working, tough as they come lady had a thirty-year rewarding career as an LVN, then in 1985, graduated from Houston Community College with an RN degree. Her passion was working and managing the ER, including a nursing stint on Death Row.
In 2021, Anna Marie became a widow from Owen Craig McDonald, SR.. after twenty-nine years of marriage and without haste - due to her declining health, her daughter Margaret "Maggie" Wood, moved her in with her to San Antonio. This mother-daughter bond resulted in three amazing years of love, laughter, and tears. She left us with incredible memories and plans for the day when we can rejoice together in Heaven.
Anna was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Owen Craig McDonald, Sr.; sister, Margaret Susan Bond and sons, Owen Craig McDonald, Jr. and Stephen Wesley McDonald.
Survivors include sons, Michael Schramm of Willis, Brian McDonald of Huntsville, Russell McDonald of Hopkinsville, KY and Benjamin Buckner of Florida; daughters, Margaret Schramm Wood of San Antonio and Brenda Hale of Hopkinsville, KY; grandchildren, Jeffrey Wood, Cooper Wood, Ashley Slaughter, Brittny Schramm, Michael Schramm, Jr., Cassidy Schramm, Brylee McDonald, Colt McDonald, Owen C. McDonald, III, Ross Hughes, Tabitha Keel and Kara Shumake; as well as fourteen great-grandchildren and one on the way.
