Arthur Elvis Holt, Jr.

Arthur Elvis Holt, Jr., age 85, of Houston, Texas passed away Friday, March 17, 2023 in a Houston hospital.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Elvis Holt, Sr. & Verle Dawn (Barnett) Holt, a baby brother who died in infancy; and one grandchild, Shauna Holt, who passed away at the age of 4 following a failed liver transplant.  He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary (Moreno) Holt of Houston; children from a previous marriage (Carole - deceased), Melanie Holt, Karen Holt Stockman, Lisa Holt Fontenot (husband, Bob) and Arthur Holt (wife, Krissy) of Pennsylvania; brother, Harvey Holt ( wife, Barbara) of Seattle, WA; nine (9) grandchildren; seventeen (17) great-grandchildren and two (2) great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family members, nieces, nephews, brothers & sisters-in-law.

He was born September 9, 1937 in Washington D.C. to parents, Arthur Elvis Holt, Sr. & Verle Dawn (Barnett) Holt.

Arthur was raised in Ida, Oklahoma, he graduated from Muskogee Central High School, Muskogee, Oklahoma. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Houston, Texas for employment. He went to work for the United States Postal Service at a young age. He truly loved working for the postal service, the job, and the employees.

In 1992, Arthur retired from the United States Postal Service as a Supervisor, after forty years of service. He was a devoted, hardworking, conscientious, well-liked and admired employee. He was a dear friend to his associate employees.

Arthur enjoyed fishing and watching his favorite baseball team, the Houston Astros.

Services for Arthur will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Madisonville, Texas. Arthur will be laid to rest in the Jozye Cemetery. A brief visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the church.
