Aundrea Lamar Simms was born October 7, 1982, in Ohio to Emory & Leanna Simms. He grew up in Marlin, Texas and graduated from Marlin High School in 2001. During high school, Dre’ was a stand-out athlete, excelling in basketball and football. Following graduation, Dre’ attended Navarro Jr. College. He later played semi-pro football in many different towns and was a member of the championship DFW Eagles team. Dre’ coached and played the quarterback position on all of the teams in which he was a member and also coached several AAU basketball teams.
Dre’ was a barber and worked as a Sergeant at the Limestone County Detention Center in Groesbeck. He was a member of Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church in Madisonville.
Dre’ passed away January 16, 2020, near Groesbeck, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Leanna Simms.
Those left to cherish his memory are wife, Lakeshia Simms; fathers, Emory Simms and Charles Lang; sons, Dre’ Lynne Simms, Jyrin Burns and Jabre’ Burns (Tyneqia); daughters, Heaven’ Sint Simms, Aquasha Simms and Jyah Burns; brothers, Anthony Simms (Darika) and Vontell Jones and sisters, Audrianne Wortham (Jefferson Grayson) and Katushwa Payne. Dre’ is also survived by grandchild, Braxten McClosky.
Homegoing services for Dre' will be held 11:30 A.M. at First Baptist Church Madisonville. Interment will follow in West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, January 24th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Madisonville Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas.
