Betty J Dishongh

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty J. Dishongh, 87, of Madisonville, Texas will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Jerry Allen Cole will officiate the service. Tim Dishongh will present the music for the service. Interment will follow in Greenbriar Cemetery. A brief visitation will take place Saturday morning prior to the service from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home.

Born Betty Jean Winters January 20, 1935 in Madisonville, Texas, she was the only child of James & Mildred (Thompson) Winters. Betty was raised in Madisonville and graduated from Madisonville High School. She went on to attend business school in Bryan, Texas and accepted her first job at Prudential Insurance Company in Houston, Texas. Betty married her sweetheart, Curtis Dishongh, in the parsonage of First Baptist Church November 25, 1954, officiated by Rev. J.R. Wagstaff. She and Curtis raised their family in the Houston area and retired back to Madisonville where Betty enjoyed crafting, and keeping her home exquisitely decorated. She and Curtis spent many hours refinishing furniture and antiquing. Betty most cherished her faith and her family, both of which were very important to her. She was a longtime, devoted member of First Baptist Church, Madisonville. Betty passed away May 4, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

Betty was preceded in death by both of her parents and husband, Curtis Dishongh. Surviving family members include Michael Dishongh (wife, Terry) of Willis; daughter, Susan Dishongh of Madisonville; grandchildren, Justin Dishongh, Bryce Dishongh, Leslie Williams (husband, Rodney), Ashley Lewis and Randy Lewis (wife, Roxanne); step-grandchildren, Justin Jasso (wife, Bridget) and Ryan Jasso (wife, Melanie); great-grandchildren, Kourtney Shull, Ryan Williams and Amelia Lewis; step-great-grandchild, Julius Jasso and cousins, Ronnie Thompson (wife, Gigi) of Madisonville and James Thompson of The Woodlands.
