Betty Kelly was born on May 13, 1939 in Madison County, Texas She was the daughter of Thurman Taylor and Cora Vesta (Evans) Colquitt. She was a lifelong resident of Madison County and a member of the Church of Christ. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
For several years, she was a hostess at the Corral Café in Madisonville. She sold Mary Kay Cosmetics for a few years. She was also an accomplished seamstress. Her husband, Franklin F. “Bo” Kelly, Sr., had a successful roofing business and Betty sometimes worked with her husband as a roofer’s helper.
Betty was preceded in death by both of her parents; a brother, Thurman Kenneth Colquitt; a sister, Mary Ann Colquitt Nesmith Gail; two children, Colin Paul Kelly and Sandy Kelly; a granddaughter, Crystal Renee’ Harris and a great grandson, Levi Kelly. Betty passed away on July 7, 2020 at her home at the age of 81 years.
She is survived by a host of relatives including husband, Bo Kelly; brother and sister-in-law Mike and Jacque Colquitt of Magnolia; five children and spouses, Kathy and Billy Harris of Bedias; Jodie and Mike Bishop of Madisonville; Karen Hopkins and Dean of Buffalo; Frank Kelly Jr. and Connie of Madisonville and Daniel Kelly of Madisonville; grandchildren, Ray Harris and (Courtney); Justin Hopkins; Wendy Noey (Michael); Nikki Brady (Brian); Chuck Kelly (Lindy); Clint Kelly (Clara); Cole Kelly (Courtney); Amy Reyes (Elias); Kelsey Taylor (Tray) and Zack Kelly (Kaleigh) and great grandchildren, Payton West, Porter West, Jacey Harris, Raylie Harris, Katy Harris, Gracie Reyes, Kixley Reyes, Anna Kelly, Bo Kelly, Grayson Taylor, Faith Taylor, McKenzie Noey, Hank Noey, Zoe Brady, Courtlyn Kelly, Olivia Kelly, Kace Kelly and Cutler Kelly.
A public visitation will be held at Madisonville Funeral Home from 12 noon until 3 pm on Friday, July 10, 2020. A private family viewing will be held at the funeral home from 3 pm until 3:45 pm. Then an interment will be held at the Burrow Cemetery on Boyd Road for the immediate family.
Grandsons, Ray Harris, Justin Hopkins, Chuck Kelly, Clint Kelly, Cole Kelly, and Zack Kelly will serve as pallbearers. Joel Douget will officiate.
Services are under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home.
