Chad Edward McAfee passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at his home in Cedar Park, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26 at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. Visitation hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25 at the Madisonville Funeral Home.
Chad was born July 16, 1968, in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Madisonville High School in 1986. He went on to attend Texas A&M University and graduated from the University of Houston in Victoria, Texas in 1991 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. After college Chad worked in the auto finance and banking fields in Atlanta and Victoria before returning to Madisonville in 2004. He was a beloved employee of Jarrett’s Meat Service for over 10 years before relocating to Cedar Park.
Chad grew up with a golf club in his hand. He loved the game and especially loved playing at his grandfather’s home at Hilltop Lakes. He also enjoyed playing baseball and softball. He played outfield and often joked that his nickname was “The Hawk” because he could run down fly balls so well. Most importantly, he was a humble and selfless person who was always willing to put his needs aside to care for and help others. He loved his cats dearly, and he spent the last several years of his life caring for his stepfather and mother. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Grace and Bert Johnson of Madisonville and Barney and Ann Friery of Hilltop Lakes and his stepfather, Bill Newman of Madisonville. He is survived by his mother, Sandra Newman of Cedar Park and his parents, Ed and Sandy McAfee of Katy; three sisters, Stacey Michalik of Commerce, MI, Lynne Sanders of Spring and Lori McBride of Mission Viejo, CA; nieces and nephews, Leigh Leppert, August and Greyson Sanders and Riley and Von Michalik, as well as, many close friends whom he considered family.
