It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cleveland Lee Turner, a beloved father, husband and friend who passed away on December 1, 2024. Cleveland, 68, was born on December 20, 1955, in Dallas, Texas, to proud parents, Frankie Lee and Florince Turner. Cleveland leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of his friends and family.
Though he was a big, tough man in stature, Cleveland’s heart was even larger. He had a smile that could light up a room and a spirit that never hesitated to help others. Whether offering a hand to a friend or a word of encouragement to a stranger, Cleveland’s generosity knew no bounds. His kindness, humility, and willingness to always put others first made him a pillar of the Midway community.
Cleveland’s love for his family was immeasurable. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Maurita, for more than forty-three years, and a proud father to his daughter, Tiffany. As a father, his guidance and love were constant in his daughter's life, and he was the rock that his wife could always rely on.
Cleveland was a man of incredible work ethic. He recently retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after thirty-seven years of service. He began his career in grey before transferring to the Risk Management Division as a Safety Officer. In addition to his primary job, he found peace and purpose in building his own ranch.
He set an example for all who knew him of what it meant to work hard, love deeply, and live with integrity.
Cleveland was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Pamela Adair.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Maurita Turner; daughter, Tiffany Turner; sister-in-law, Wanda Siems (Charles); niece, Katy Fuchs; great nephews, Levi and Grayson Fuchs; grand dog, Knockout; and countless friends and family whose lives he touched. Thanks to special friends, Felipe Garcia and Jose Alvardo.
A funeral service for Cleveland officiated by Loyd Harper and Joel Douget will be held in the chapel of the Madisonville Funeral Home on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 10 A.M. followed by interment in the Midway Cemetery. A time of visitation will take place at the funeral home from 5 P.M. till 7 P.M. on Friday, December 6, 2024.
