David Arthur McGinnis

August 6, 1956 — October 17, 2024

Madisonville, Texas

David Arthur McGinnis, 68, of Madisonville, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 17, 2024. He was born in 1956, in Pontiac, Michigan, the eldest son of Calvin and Clara McGinnis. David's sense of duty and loyalty was evident in his service to his country in the United States Marine Corps from July 1974 to May 1979, a period that shaped his life and character.

Dave was a man of few words in most settings, but his quiet strength and genuine kindness spoke volumes to those who knew him. He was the first to lend a hand when help was needed and was always ready with a joke-though sometimes only he fully understood the punchline. He had a unique ability to make others smile, whether through his humor, generous spirit, or effortless ability to lead by example.

Though soft-spoken, Dave's love for life often shone brightly on the dance floor, where he never missed a chance to join in. His love for dancing was only matched by his love for his family. A devoted husband to Becky McGinnis for nearly 40 years, Dave was the proud father of four children and a loving grandfather of seven. He never missed an opportunity to show his support, and he was always his children's biggest fan, whether in their work, school, or life.

A man of deep faith, Dave dedicated himself to the Catholic Church, serving as an Acolyte, a Knight of Columbus, and a member of The Order of Discalced Carmelite Secular. His commitment to faith was reflected in his actions and the care he extended to those around him. He was also an avid sports fan, cheering passionately for the Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Tigers, and Lions and his adopted hometown teams, the Houston Astros and Texans.

Dave will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence comforted all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Clara McGinnis and his brother, Darryl McGinnis. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca McGinnis; his brother, Duane McGinnis; his sister, Denise Webb; his daughter, Holly McGinnis; his sons, Ian (wife Janis), Patrick (Stephy), and Matthew (Lisa) McGinnis; his grandchildren, John, Joel, Nathan, Zoe, Mila, Max, and Isaac; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 100 S. Tammye Lane, Madisonville, Texas, on November 16, 2024, to celebrate Dave's life. The rosary will be held 10 A.M., visitation at 10:30, and a funeral mass 11 A.M., with a luncheon to follow. All are welcome to join in remembrance and support of his family.

Final Arrangements for David McGinnis are under the compassionate care and direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
