Don Louis Boullion was born on January 28, 1939, in Klondyke, Louisiana, and passed away on July 5, 2024, in Bryan, Texas. Don was a longtime resident of Bedias, Texas, moving his family to the Grimes County area in the 1970s. Don grew up working rice fields in southwest Louisiana with his sharecropper parents in the 1940s, where he lived out his childhood, not learning English until grade school, where it was forbidden to speak his first language, Cajun French. He developed a passion for motor vehicles, hot rods, and drag racing in his teenage years, which led to his long career as a "Jack-of-all-trades," working primarily as a mechanic and a hunting guide for much of his younger days, and later working in power plants and finishing his career as a long haul trucker before retiring.
Don met his future wife, Annie Douga, in Sweet Lake, Louisiana, in the early 1960s and a whirlwind romance led to their happily-ever-after, having four children, Roxanne, Donald "Bullet," Terry, and Christopher. Don was called to service before the birth of his first child, completed his military training at Fort Collins, Colorado, and was stationed at West Point, New York, before he was honorably discharged in 1968.
Don had many passions, such as working on cars, fishing and hunting, listening to Bluegrass and Cajun music, drinking coffee, cracking jokes, and spending time with his family. He leaves behind a legacy of car and music-lovers in his children and grandchildren. He was the epitome of a Cajun man.
A funeral service honoring Don will be held at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 10 A.M. Burial will be held in Bedias Baptist Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will commence the evening before on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Don is survived by his daughter, Roxanne Boullion Pointer (John); son, Donald Ray "Bullet" Boullion; son, Christopher Boullion (Gwen); daughter-in-law, Michelle Clary (Carl); brother, Ray Allen Boullion (Laura); sister, Annette Boullion O'Quinn; brother-in-law, John Douga (Marie); brother-in-law, Larry Douga (Liz); sister-in-law, Elaine Douga; sister-in-law, Sue Smith (Stanley); sister-in-law, Jonette Douga; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Cooley (Ricky).
