Eddie Duayne Gose, a beloved husband, father, and friend, lived a remarkable life filled with passion, dedication, and love. Born on July 12, 1945, in Wichita Falls, Texas, Eddie's journey began in the vibrant community of Lubbock, where he excelled in academics and sports, earning the honor of being a two-time State Speech and Debate Champion. After graduating from Cooper High School, he briefly attended Texas Tech University before heeded the call of duty and volunteered for the United States Army.
Eddie served proudly as an intelligence officer stationed in Hawaii during the Vietnam War, working on classified projects, including the Corona Satellite. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Lubbock, where he completed his education at Texas Tech University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and later graduating from the Texas Tech School of Law. During this time, he married Shirley Ann Dickey and welcomed their daughter, Jennifer.
As a lawyer in Coleman and later Lubbock, Eddie built a successful private practice and ventured into the oil and gas industry, even designing a hydraulic pump for oil rig platforms. In the thriving city of Bryan, he returned to private practice and found love again when he married Kathleen Gose in 1985. Together, they embraced the joys of family life and welcomed their son, Matthew, into the world.
Eddie's commitment to service called him back to the Army, where he became a reserve officer with the 420th Engineering Brigade in Bryan. His distinguished career continued as he was called to active duty during Operation Enduring Freedom, where he served as the Judge Advocate General (JAG) for the 493rd Engineering Brigade in Iraq, completing twelve months of honorable service.
In 1987, Eddie joined the Texas A&M University System as Assistant General Counsel. He dedicated the next twenty-seven years to the institution, serving as Chief of Litigation and later as a Real Estate and Oil and Gas Specialist. Retirement gave Eddie the opportunity to create cherished memories with Kathleen, their grandchildren, and pursue his passions for aviation, woodworking, and tinkering in his hangar. His final project, a lovingly constructed 1903 Cadillac he affectionately named "The Kathy-llac," reflects his creative spirit and love for life.
Eddie passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his family on February 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, love, and dedication. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Gose, and their cherished family.
Eddie was preceded in death by both of his parents; brother, Geral Wayne Gose; and sister-in-law, Martha Gose. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Gose of Hilltop Lakes, Texas; sons, Bradley Hale Gose of Milano, Texas and Matthew David Gose of Kyiv, Ukraine; daughter, Jennifer Leigh Gose of Alamogordo, New Mexico; grandchildren, Mitch, Jake, Annagail, Jackson, Audie and Liesel; and one great-grandchild, Amadeus.
A funeral service for Eddie D. Gose will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday, February 21, 2025, at Hilltop Lakes Chapel in the Hilltop Lakes Community of Leon County, Texas.
