Frances Reynolds Hooper

May 14, 1938 — February 20, 2025

Hearne, Texas

Frances Reynolds Hooper was born May 14, 1938, in the small town of Kittrell, Texas, near Trinity, to James Wiley & Effie Leona Reynolds. She lived a full and rewarding life having attained the age of 86 years and 9 months. She passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on February 20, 2025. She had lived in Hearne, Texas for the last six years, and many previous years in Normangee and Madisonville, Texas. She was the loving matriarch of her family and will be sorely missed.

Having attended schools in Groveton, Texas, she would marry Mr. Ford Hooper in June of 1955, just before her Senior year and would later graduate Normangee High in 1956. Ford and Frances would forge a strong, durable bond of marriage which has been treasured for nearly seventy years. She would prove to be a loving wife, homemaker and mother, not to mention excellent cook for her household in the years ahead. She would later enjoy many years of professional employment in the community as an office keeper and receptionist for a local bank, medical clinic, and nursing home in Madisonville.

For a time, she enjoyed the role of a local deejay at KMVL, living a bit on the wild side for a bit. All the while, she maintained vigilance as an active school mom supporting her son and daughter in various school activities, even serving on the PTA board for a while. Meanwhile she was a rock-solid supporter of Ford’s career in the Texas Dept of Highways and later as a County Commissioner. In later years, she would gladly take on the mantle of being a wonderful Mee-maw for the 3rd and 4th generations of her family.

Frances was also a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ and a solid supporter of the local church. She was a faithful student of God’s Word, who also developed quite a library of biblical-oriented books and literature. In so many ways, she was a great inspiration to her family and a witness to so many friends.

She truly loved God’s world of nature too, spending much time gardening and tending plants and flowers. She cherished her pets and the little creatures of nature, which included birds of all types, especially hummingbirds, which she fed ‘religiously’ with the finest fuel around. They knew where she lived and paid frequent visits. While she did enjoy travelling on occasion, she was most content to be a homebody. Yet many friends would make their way to her home for some good southern hospitality.

Frances was preceded by all of her siblings and much of her family.

Those surviving her include her husband of sixty-nine years, Ford Hooper; son & daughter in law, James Hooper (Judy); daughter, Lauren Hooper Martin; and grandchildren, Ben Hooper (Amber), Whitney Hooper & Jared Martin (Mysti). She’s also survived by two great-grandkids, Emmy & Aiden Hooper. Other survivors include Mary Jo and James Patterson, Linda Hooper and numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Frances Hooper, officiated by pastors Charles Higgs and Chip Parmer will be held in the chapel of Madisonville Funeral Home on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11 A.M., followed by burial in the Ten Mile Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour before the service.

The family would like to extend kind words of appreciation to Baylor Scott & White, College Station, Cross-Roads Nursing Center of Hearne and Alumine Hospice for their excellent professional care of Frances in recent months.

As a family blessed with so many loyal friends, we would like to say, ‘Thank You Lord’ for blessing our lives with the many wonderful memories of time spent with Frances Hooper. She’s now moved on to that Heavenly Home, and will be greatly missed by us, but what a great relative and friend she has been.

In honor of Frances, the family encourages you to give a memorial donation to the church of your choice, or a Christian ministry organization.
