Frank Cornell Davis, born November 9, 1930, affectionately known as ‘PawPaw,’ joined his savior Jesus, on October 26, 2024, with his family by his side.
Meeting the love of his life, Carolyn Dale Tyler, in study hall at Jefferson High School in Houston, they were married before he began serving in the U.S. Army in Korea.
Upon his return home in 1953, his love of automobiles led him into the auto industry including retail sales, service, and auto sales across three states.
A lifetime of adventures intensified his family bond. Camping in New Mexico, elk hunting in Colorado, building and racing cars in Colorado & Utah, helping manage his son’s feed store, helping raise two granddaughters, listening to his wife play the piano and organ at church, attending the Rose Bowl Parade in California, an anniversary trip to Hawaii, attending his grandson’s wedding in Vermont, and so much more, he always had family close.
As an only child, he built a family legacy of three children, Edward Davis (Ginny), Carol Ingram (Steve), and Kerri Davis, and their families including six grandchildren, Kristi Akers (Tim), Bryan Davis (Val), Nicole Malouf (Chip), Kelci Smith (Rob), Carly Poyer (Rob), and Molly Davis; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
His home was always a gathering place whether it was a holiday, special occasion, or merely a Friday night playing pool while listening to Willie and Waylon or Jimmy Buffet.
The memories he made with his family are priceless. He will never be forgotten.
His wife of seventy-one years, Carolyn, preceded Frank in death in 2022. They were both members of the Iola Missionary Baptist Church.
A private memorial service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly requested to the Iola Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund at https://give.tithe.ly/?formId=b5dc6743-6864-11ee-90fc-1260ab546d11.
