Frederick William "Fred" Koop, Iii

Frederick William Koop, III was born to Frederick and Clara Koop on May 25, 1938. He was a 1956 graduate of Brooklyn Polytech High School and a 1967 graduate of Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He proudly served his country as a Marine reservist for 6 years.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sue Ellen, his children: Lori Koop, Kara Rosen (Steve), Sandy Meissner (Kirk), Valarie Lawrence (Wade), Gary Koop (Laura), David Midkiff (Nicole), Kristen Ballard and Kami Weinstein (Joshua) and his 23 grandchildren who all adored him.

Fred served as Vice President and Mechanical Engineer at CHPA Engineers from 1976 – 2006. Retirement brought about Fred and Sue Ellen’s move to the country, with a gorgeous homestead on the lake in Bedias, Texas. He blossomed in the country and the young boy from New York found a love for the peaceful, quiet, busy country life. Everyone who knew Fred knew without a doubt that he was a faithful man, always willing to share the Word and serve others by helping in any way he could. He mentored, counseled, taught and lived the Word. His influence in the community was vast. There were several words that continuously were used to describe him: patient, kind, faithful and gentle. You immediately felt at peace just being near him. His love of God, Family and Country defined him. As the world became more complicated, Fred embraced simplicity. He chose to live an intentional life and left a legacy of servanthood.

Funeral services for Fred will be held 11 A.M., Friday, August 14, 2020 at Bedias Baptist Church in Bedias, Texas. Pastor David Medina and Jerry Huff will officiate the service. Interment will be held in Houston National Cemetery at a date to be determined.
