Gilbert Cortinas, Sr.

Funeral services for Gilbert Cortinas, Sr., age 65, of Dime Box, and formerly of Bedias, will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. Gilbert’s brother, Joe Cortinas, will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Jozye Cemetery. The Cortinas family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, October 11th from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. with a prayer service taking place at 7 P.M.

Gilbert Cortinas, Sr. was born July 18, 1954 in Kingsville, Texas to parents, Roberto & Anita G. (Guevara) Cortinas. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and worked as a supervisor for Bassler Energy Service. Gilbert had lived in Bedias since 1995 and in Dime Box for the past five years. He passed away at his home October 9, 2019. Gilbert was preceded in death by both of his parents and wife, Katie Cortinas.

Surviving family members include wife, Mary Vega of Dime Box; sons, Gilbert Cortinas, Jr. of Victoria and Cody Cortinas of Bedias; daughter, Kayla Alverson of College Station; brother, Jose A. “Joe” Cortinas (Virginia) of Houston and eight grandchildren.
