Iris Ballard, 96, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
Iris was born October 16, 1921 and grew up in Bedias, Texas. She married G.W. Ballard and the couple lived in Freeport, Texas for forty years. Iris was a homemaker and a seamstress during this time. In 1962, she worked for several years as a secretary to the music minister at the First Baptist Church in Freeport, Texas. In 1965, she then went to work for Carnation Milk Company as a bookkeeper. In 1970, she started working for Gulf Supply Company, also in Freeport, Texas until her retirement in 1983.
The couple moved to Madisonville, Texas in 1983 and were very active in her church, First Baptist Church of Madisonville. She was a seamstress in Madisonville until she moved to Bartlesville in March of 2007, where she lived until her death.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father John Hill Luther Tyer and Agnes Tyer of Bedias, Texas; husband G.W. Ballard of Madisonville, Texas and sister Dorothy Carmical of Pasadena, Texas.
Iris is survived by her daughter Kay Herring and husband Bob and son David Ballard; grandchildren Kerry Ingersoll and husband Warren; Jay Herring and wife Angela; John Paul Brent Ballard and wife Rebecca and Julie Marcantel and husband Mike; great grandchildren Autumn Ingersoll, Konner Ingersoll, Colton Ingersoll, Christopher Ingersoll, Karson Ingersoll, Kaytlee Ingersoll, Alyx Herring, Johnathan Kidd, Lily Ingersoll-Kidd, Amanda Marcantel, Audrey Ballard and Darby Ballard; great great grandchild Landon Ryan Hurst.
The family will greet friends for a visitation at Stumpff Funeral Home on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11:00 am at Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church. Friends and loved ones may leave condolence messages for the family at www.stumpff.org.
The family will greet friends for a visitation at Madisonville Funeral Home on Monday evening, February 12, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church of Madisonville, Texas with Pastor Jim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Bedias Baptist Cemetery in Bedias, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Journey Home at 900 N. Washington Blvd, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006 or the Washington-Osage Baptist Association Disaster Relief Fund at 3801 N.E. Maryland Street, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.
