Homegoing services for Deacon James H. Smith, Sr., 74, of Madisonville, Texas will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Madisonville Christian Fellowship Church, Madisonville, Texas. Interment will follow in Hopewell Cemetery outside of Midway, Texas. The Smith family will receive friends Friday, November 12th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. At the request of the Smith family, masks will be required at the visitation and funeral service.

James Harvey Smith, Sr. was born January 14, 1947 to the parentage of Elvade and J.L. Smith in Midway, Texas. He attended and graduated from Marion Anderson High School. James worked for 7J Ranch for forty, plus years. He enjoyed fishing, camping and family gatherings. Most of all, he loved being in church serving the Lord.
James was called home on November 5, 2021.
He was preceded in death by both parents, Elavde and J.L.; wife, Glenda Pearl Smith; granddaughter, Kiana and two brothers, J.L. Smith, Jr. and Henry Lee Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory brother, Alvin Smith (Louisiana); sisters, Dorothy, Mary Smith and Tressie Harrell (all of Madisonville). He also leaves sons, James Smith, Jr. (wife, Tabitha), Greg Smith, Calvin Smith (wife, Diretha) and Darren Smith (wife, Rachel); daughters, Glenda K. Green (husband, Michael, Sr.), Lois A. Randall (husband, Jamar), Michelle Smith, Roshondra Smith, LaSoya R. Dickey (husband, Jerome), Lavina F. Smith, Joslyn D. Crockett (husband, Ronnie), Sheneki Y. Smith and Antesia D. Simpson (husband, Sam). With this union progressed thirty-eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, combined with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, as well as special friend, Ella Mae Huey.
Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas is entrusted with final arrangements.
