James Sterling Gaskin was born August 9, 1932 in Oletha, Texas to Charles & Bertha I. (Burkeen) Gaskin. He served his country in the United States Navy and later worked as an engineer technician for the Texas Department of Transportation in Houston, Texas.
Following his retirement, James moved to Madison County where he spent his days farming, reading and watching cowboy movies. James will forever be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
James passed away April 14, 2018 in Madisonville, Texas. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; brothers, Charles Gaskin and Junior Lee Gaskin and sister, Stella Mae McCrorey. Surviving relatives include wife, Mildred (Marsh) Gaskin of North Zulch; sons, James Michael (Donna) Gaskin of Cleveland, Brian Clay Gaskin of Houston and Donald Anthony (Lisa) Gaskin of Tomball; four grandchildren, Glenn, Brandon, Melissa & Leslie Gaskin and one great granddaughter, Stella Gaskin.
Funeral services for James are scheduled for 11 A.M., Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. Bro. Doug Jones and Bro. Leldon McKinney will officiate the service. Interment with funeral honors provided by the U.S. Navy will follow in the Marquez Cemetery in Marquez, Texas. A public visitation will take place from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Tuesday, April 17th at the funeral home.
