Jay Timothy Morgan

Jay Timothy Morgan, 62, born on December 17, 1955, in Houston, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 5, 2018. Tim moved to Midway, Texas in grade school and graduated from Madisonville High School in 1975. He attended Sam Houston State University on a football scholarship and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Special Education and Speech Pathology in 1979.

He began his career with TDCJ, teaching at the Ferguson Unit in Midway, Texas. Tim accepted a position as Assistant Warden at the Gib-Lewis Unit in Woodville, Texas. He then transferred to the Boyd Unit in Teague, Texas as Head Warden. Tim was also Head Warden at the Robertson Unit in Abilene, Texas, and both the Ellis Unit and Estelle Unit in Huntsville, Texas. After a long career, Tim retired from TDCJ, and took an Assistant Warden position with Corrections Corporation of America, in Winnfield, Louisiana. Following this position, Tim accepted the Head Warden position at the Torrance Correctional Facility in Estancia, New Mexico. Upon leaving New Mexico, Tim returned to Winnfield, Louisiana as Head Warden of his previous Unit.

After an outstanding career in Corrections, spanning 38 years, Tim retired to his family's homestead in Midway, Texas, where he lived out his final days hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Tim is proceeded in death by his parents, John and Louise Morgan. He is survived by his wife Ann Morgan (58), son James Morgan (31) and his wife Elizabeth, son Jacob Morgan (28) and wife Sara. Tim is also survived by his brother Paul Morgan (66) and his wife Pat. Additionally, Tim is survived by his 3 grandchildren, Emily Morgan (3), as well as Marshall Morgan (1) and Molly Morgan (8 weeks).

Funeral services for Jay Morgan, of Houston and Midway, will be held at 1 P.M., Friday, February 9, 2018, at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. Rev. Glenn Conner will officiate the service, and interment will follow in the Allphin Cemetery in the Elwood Community of Madison County. A brief visitation will be held Friday from 11 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. A celebration of life will take place immediately following the graveside service at the home of Billy & Kathy Smith, 8192 FM 2346, Midway, Texas 75852.
