Jerry Floyd Marhofer

Jerry Floyd Marhofer was born in 1939 in Houston, Texas during World War II. As a young boy, he would go to Kansas to spend summers with his grandparents. His grandfather called him "Cowboy," and thus began Jerry's love for horses.

As a young boy, Jerry attended the Baptist Church. In his teen years, he participated in bull riding but then moved on to cutting horses. Jerry was a Mason and Shriner. He graduated from Austin High School in Houston, Texas. He went to college at Texas A&M in College Station, Sam Houston in Huntsville and U of H in Houston. Jerry worked with his dad in the convenience store in Spring, where he lived. He would train young people to ride and show horses, all while raising four children.

Jerry was asked to begin a Cutting Horse Association in Madisonville. He served as the President for seven years. During this time, he also became the Vice Chairman of the Cutting Horse Association at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Later he became a licensed auctioneer and was extremely good at it.

Jerry moved to Midway, Texas thirty years ago, ranching and raising cattle and cutting horses. He also showed and qualified for the World Championship in cutting at the age of sixty-five. He immediately became sick and had the first of five pacemakers implanted to keep him living. Jerry had to stop riding horses, but he missed it every day for the rest of his life. He loved his children, and his greatest LEGACY was his four godly children and eighteen grandchildren, all of whom are very strong Christians. Jerry will be seeing them all in Heaven one day.

Jerry was also a member of the Leon County Cowboy Church.

You can tell the greatest legacy of a man through his children and grandchildren. They are a testimony of his greatness.

Jerry is survived by his children, Jennifer Harbour (Scott), Jared Floyd Marhofer (Susan), Joshua James Marhofer (Shara), and Juliette Duggar; grandchildren, Cade (Aundrea) Knox, Houston, Hudson, Harrison, and Hennison Harbour, Mariah, Mikayla, Alayna, Abigail and Jayda Marhofer, Kelson, Emily and Kaylee Marhofer, and Chloe, Kole, Kamden and Kinnley Duggar. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.

Pallbearers: Jarod Floyd Marhofer, Joshua Floyd Marhofer, Kelson James Marhofer, Kole Allen Duggar, Kamden Luke Duggar, Brett Marcel O'Day, Mahlon Lynn Marhofer, Donald Floyd Marhofer.
