Jerry Wilton Fannin was born June 13, 1939, to William Harmon “Buddy” Fannin and Eunice Blanche Cole Fannin at the home of his grandparents, Daniel Webster Cole and Annie Elizabeth Lang Cole in the Mecca Community, Madison County, Texas. He attended Madisonville High School and graduated in 1957. Jerry graduated from Sam Houston University in 1961, with a degree in Business Administration.


His career path followed a period of over twenty-five years with the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) in the district office in Bryan, Texas. He retired as Director of Administration. Jerry was an avid photographer who co-authored four books with his wife Angela Farris Fannin. Their most notable book featured photographs of outhouses. During his college days he made thirty-five millimeter movies about the Old West.


Recently, Jerry pursued ranching interests on family land in the High Prairie Community, as well as Cottonwood Farm in the Cottonwood Community.


Jerry was preceded in death by both parents and one sister, Linda Jean Fannin Fraley. Jerry married Angela Dawn Farris on June 13, 1964, at the North Madison Church of Christ. They recently celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage. Jerry is survived by his wife Angela, as well as their son, Blair Fannin and wife, Brandi Fannin. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Bailey Fannin. Other survivors include a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jeff Farris and wife, Sue Farris, as well as nephew, William Farris and wife, Christine and nieces, Dawn Shockey and husband, Greg and Darla Corona and husband, Manny.


While in college he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He was currently a member of the William Joel Bryan Chapter of the Sons of the Republic of Texas and a former member of First Presbyterian Church of Bryan, Texas.


Funeral services are to be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.  Interment will be at the Oxford Cemetery in the Cottonwood Community under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Friends and family are invited to attend both services.


Lunch will be served at the First United Methodist Church, Madisonville, Texas following the committal service at the cemetery.
