Jimmie T. Gray of North Zulch, TX passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 at his home after a short fight against cancer. Jimmie was born July 25, 1941 to Louis & Cora Gray in Wellborn, TX.
Jimmie was proud to have served in the Air Force during Vietnam, getting as close as Turkey during his tour. It was in the military that he learned the electrical trade. During his tour, he helped restore power to Alaska after the Earthquake of ‘64.
On April 4, 1969, Jimmie married the love of his life, Betty Crocker. They lived in Kurten until 1978, when they moved to North Zulch. Jimmie became a Bulldog fan and a proud supporter of the school at the many fundraisers and events he attended.
After the military, he became a journeyman electrician and worked for Harvel Electric, working on many job sites with his father in law, Wesley. Jimmie was a Brazos County Precint 3 Constable during this time as well, until he moved to North Zulch. In 1982, he became a master electrician and opened Gray Electric Services, which is still in operation today. Jimmie trained his sons, Bill & Wendell as well as his son in law, Sammy, in the electrical trade. He was training his grandson, Cody to carry on the family tradition.
Jimmie was a family man. He enjoyed being with his kids, grandkids and great-grands. He would follow them to any event they were involved in, from basketball to volleyball to baseball to softball to rodeos, he was there to watch and support.
Jimmie enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to fish in his favorite fishing holes on Lake Limestone, as well as bale hay for friends and family in the area. But Jimmie’s true passion was rodeo. His favorite sport was team roping. Not only did he like to watch, but he spent many a day & night roping with friends and family. Jimmie took great pride in watching his sons and grandsons rope. He made sure they were well mounted, with a good solid horse to ride. He & Betty took their vacations in Oklahoma at the Timed Event Championships for over 20 years.
Jimmie will be remembered as a straight shooter with integrity and standards. You never had to worry where you stood with him; he’d tell you. His love for Betty and his family guided him in all that he did.
He is proceeded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Wesley & Bessie Crocker; nephew, Alan Crocker; nieces, Cindy Crocker Whitaker & Karen Gray; great-grandson, Bailin Hannon; his brothers-in-law, Danny Crocker, Tommy Lero, Gene Massey & Dwayne Humphrey.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty; daughter, Sondra and husband, Sammy Maddox; sons, Bill Mosley and Wendell and wife, Regina Mosley; grandchildren, Cody Maddox, Caitlyn & Cody English, Breanne Mosley, Karina & Chet Hannon, Charlie Cook, Clayton Cook, and Edward & Barbara Mendoza; great-grands, Carter & Camden Maddox, Nicholas, Cashdyn, & Clara English, JB & Lexi Cook & Hazynn Hannon, Cooper Cook, Paisleigh Cook and Kathryn Mendoza; sisters, Joann Lero, Jeanie Massey, and Kathy Humphrey; brothers, Charles and wife, Jonilou Gray, Travis Gray and Gary and wife, Colleen Gray; sister-in-law, Ann Crocker as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
