Joan Paula (Hightower) Messina was born October 1, 1938 in Hamilton, Alabama to James Hollis & Edith Gertrude (Snow) Hightower. She had worked for Monterey Mushroom in Madisonville as the maintenance coordinator for twenty-seven years and had lived in Midway since 1979.
Joan was a wonderful, loving, caring, forgiving and giving mother, grandmother, wife and mother-in-law. She loved to cook for her family and have Sunday dinners. Joan made the best spaghetti sauce. Anytime she served her spaghetti the whole family would stop what they were doing to come eat. Joan also loved to entertain and enjoyed Christmas and any holiday season when she was able to decorate her house. She also enjoyed reading and taking care of her plants. Joan was definitely the rock of her whole family and will be missed tremendously.
Greeting Joan in heaven were daughter, Edith and sons, Clark and Kenneth. She will be missed by her beloved husband of fifty-four years, Luther Messina; sons, Thomas Messina (Carrie) and Chris Messina; sister, Marty Corona (Larry); thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
