To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
Joe Wayne kept this note in his billfold always.
Joe Wayne Sowell made his appearance into this world March 2, 1944. He was the child of Carmen & Modie Sowell, and brother to Virginia Sowell Gilbert. Joe spent most of his life in the Elwood Community. After his stint in the Army, he began his lifetime job with the TDC, from which he retired. Joe was also a cattle rancher.
Joe married the love of his life in January 1970. They would have celebrated fifty-two years together January 3, 2022. Joe was a wonderful husband and very loving father to his daughter, Rebecca Ann Sowell Juliao. He was a helpful friend to many but most of all, he was a loving Christian. Joe was a longtime member and deacon of Elwood Baptist Church.
He’s gone ahead of me but someday we will be together again.
Joe is survived by his wife, Patricia; his daughter, Becky and her husband, Conrad; granddaughter, Ashley Lyons and her husband, Ronney and their sons, Brantley and Beau; grandson, Keith Downard and his wife, Makayla and their son, Jaxson and sister, Virginia Ruth Gilbert.
Graveside services for Joe will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Allphin Cemetery, Madison County, Texas. Bro. Glenn Connor will officiate the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
