John Theodore Nosovitch made his entry onto the worldly stage on July 31, 1929. He was born in Enfield, New York to proud parents, Benjamin and Helen Dorothy (Spichalsky) Nosovitch and made his segue into eternity on February 21, 2025, in Bryan, Texas.

John was a man gifted with a strong servant’s heart. This was noticeable in all facets of his life. He retired from the Nassau County Police Department with more than twenty years of valiant service to his community. After retirement, John remained active in the police union, serving in every office, as he continued to help his law enforcement family. John was genuine in his care for others and authentic in his expression. He served honorably in the United States Army and remained a loyal patriot to his country throughout his years and was also an active and loyal member of the American Legion.

John took every opportunity to invest in those around him. This often began with a long engaging back and forth. John was quite a conversationalist through which many relationships developed and were cultivated over the course of time. He enjoyed a good card game and a bowling match when he was able. Later in life he remained diligent in taking care of his flowers and noticed great value in the simpler things in life.

John was a man of great conviction balanced with a great sense of humor and dependability. He loved his family dearly and cherished every moment with his wife, as he supported her and stood by her faithfully for so many years. He was a man of honor and dignity who set a wonderful example to those around him.

John was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Frances Slack; and two brothers, Robert and Eugene Nosovitch.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Frances Nosovitch; son, John T. Nosovitch, Jr. (Julia); daughter, Janice Nielsen (James); sister-in-law, Maureen Patterson; and brother-in-law, George Patterson (Margaret). Others left to cherish John’s memory are four grandsons, one great-grandson, two great-granddaughters, and numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family, and loving friends.
