Josie Evans

Josie Evans was born in Leon County, Texas to the parentage of Jordan and Mary Donaldson on August 24, 1924.

After growing up in the area, she married the late Jimmy Lee Evans. To this union eight children were born. She became a member at Wilson Chapel C.O.G.I.C., her tenure and faithful service would allow her to be become the “Mother” of the Church.

Being comforted are her children; Beulah Evans, Katie Nellums, Ruben Evans (Laverne), Ruth Strickland (Dexiel), Lula Madison and Neal Evans (Carla) all presiding in Houston, Texas. One sister Edna Evans, one aunt, Eva Mayes, two brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, thirty-two grandchildren, eighty-nine great-grandchildren, seventy-one great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special friend Ella Ross.

Two sons preceded her in death, Earl Evans and Jimmy Evans Jr., as well as both of her parents; husband and two sisters.
