Joyce Dean Diserens

Funeral services for Joyce Diserens, 78, of North Zulch, Texas will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Bro. Glenn Connor, pastor of Elwood Baptist Church, will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Willowhole Cemetery near North Zulch. A public visitation will take place Wednesday, January 26th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the funeral home.

Joyce Dean Diserens was born June 17, 1943 in Madisonville, Texas to Daniel F. & Esther Marie (Wiese) Diserens. She lived her entire life in Madison County where she worked as an elementary school teacher. Joyce was a teacher for fifty-six years prior to her retirement. She was first employed by Leona Grade School for one year and then moved on to Madisonville Elementary where she taught first grade for fifty-five years! Some of her accomplishments included being named Region Six Teacher of the Year, as well as being nominated as a candidate for Teacher of the Year for the entire state of Texas. Although Joyce never had children of her own, each one of her students held a special place in her heart as an honorary family member.

Outside of the classroom, Joyce enjoyed flowers and gardening. The gardens around her home resembled a beautiful forest of flowers and trees. Gerbera daisies were her favorite flower. She also enjoyed watching any and all high school sporting events and supporting her former students, as well as taking care of her cattle. Joyce was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, North Zulch. She passed away January 21, 2022 in Bryan, Texas and was preceded in death by both of her parents.

Surviving family members include brother, Steven Diserens of North Zulch; nephew, Daniel Wade Diserens of College Station and niece, Dannicka Adlen Diserens of College Station.
