Katherine Elaine Hopkins, 70, made her glorious entrance into this world on May 12, 1954, and made her divine segue to eternity on September 19, 2024, at her home in Bedias, Texas, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was born to Hershel Bernice Perry and Opal Marie Binford in Navasota, Texas.
There are many adjectives to describe Katherine, but one that stands out in the list is “courageous.” Katherine approached life as a member of the “can-do” club, and nothing stood in the way when it came to the task at hand. She was a strong lady with a fearless disposition. That said, Katherine was blessed with a wonderful personality that often manifested in a graceful attitude towards others and a desire to encourage people as they worked to accomplish their goals. She was a team player and cheered others on in their pursuits.
Katherine was a joy to be around. She had a passion for plants and gardening. She was very comfortable digging in the dirt and looked forward to what the ground would later produce. She was certainly one for planting the seed and watering it. After, she would sit on the patio and wait patiently for God to make it grow. If she was not on the patio, most likely, she would be taking in a Lifetime movie or sitting in front of the Hallmark channel, and others were always welcome to sit with her. Katherine also enjoyed fishing and going hunting in the buggy.
Katherine’s love for her family was easily observed and expressed in so many ways. She looked forward to getting facials with her daughters. She cherished every moment with her family and to say she adored her husband, John Wayne, is an understatement. They were soul mates and were blessed with more than thirty-seven years of marriage.
A memorial service celebrating Katherine’s life will be held at the Bedias Civic Center in Bedias, Texas on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 10 A.M. Rev. Billy Dale Evans and Jared Perry will officiate the ceremony.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Tracey Louise White.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and faithful husband, John Wayne Hopkins; children, Kristie Lee Robertson (Benjamin) of Huntsville, Jared West Perry (Samantha) of Bedias, Jennifer Denise Bomnskie (Randy Bo) of Bryan, and Heather Ashley Coleman (Travis) of Madisonville; brothers, Hershel Perry (Sandra) of Anderson, Jud Perry (Gay) of Bedias, and Robert Perry (Christine) of Franklin; grandchildren, Charlie, Jordan, Ashton, Sheldon, Allison, Natalie, Madison, Kayla, Kenzie, Shelby, Madison, and Weston; great-grandchildren, Charlie Jax, Denym Wayne, Harper Reese and Waylon Wayne, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends.
