Linnie Mae (Emert) Stone

On Sunday, August 16, 2020, surrounded by her loving family, Linnie Mae (Emert) Stone, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away at the age of 85.

Linnie was born on January 9, 1935, in the Elwood community at Midway, TX to Frankie Mae (Matthews) Emert and Styres Emert. On March 1, 1952, she married the love of her life, Billie F. Stone in Madisonville, TX. They had two children, Deborah Jane Stone and Billy Dan Stone. Linnie worked for the Houston Police Department as a Meter Maid prior to attending the University of Texas where she received her degree in nursing on December 20, 1975. She had many academic accomplishments including Alpha Delta Chapter, National Honor Society of Nursing and placement on the Dean's List in 1972. Upon graduating, she taught nursing school at Madisonville Hospital for twelve years. She then completed her career by serving 20 years with UTMB, where she held the position of Director of Nurses.

Linnie was a woman of God and inspired many people, as she lead by example. She and her husband traveled all over the state of Texas with the Texas Baptist Men (re)building churches. Linnie carried so much love and faith in her heart, which she generously shared with all, and was admired by many due to her vast knowledge of the Bible and her choice and commitment to walking her life with Christ. Linnie was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for 63 years and served as Worthy Matron several times.

Linnie was preceded in death by her mother, Frankie Mae Emert, father, Styres Emert, brothers Neylan Emert and Jack Emert, daughter, Deborah (Stone) Jones and granddaughter, Wendy (Stone) Martinez. She is survived by her brothers, Nolan Emert, Coy Emert, Wayne Emert and sister, Jo Ann Jones. Linnie is also survived by her son Billy Stone, and his wife Debbie, grand children, BJ Stone McCarty, Daniel Stone and Gregory Jones, and his wife Casey. Great grandchildren Ashley (Martinez) Thompson, her husband Kyle, Chelsea Martinez, Alexis (Jones) Pressley, her husband Matthew, and Victoria Jones. Great Great Grandchildren Caiden, Amelia, Addilyn, Kylie, Gabriel and Wyatt.

A funeral service will be held 1 P.M., Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Faith Baptist Church in Madisonville, Texas. The Stone family will receive friends Wednesday evening, August 19th, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
