Lloyd Andrew "Drew" Hemphill Courtney

Lloyd Andrew Hemphill Courtney, of Bedias, Texas, passed away on September 22, 2017 at the age of twenty-nine. He was born on July 8, 1988 in Houston, Texas to Gerald William, Jr. & Leslie Rebecca “Becky” (Hemphill) Courtney.

Drew Courtney lived most of his life in Bedias and was a 2006 graduate of Madisonville High School. He worked for the City of Madisonville, Texas in the water department. He was happiest when he was fishing and cooking bar-b-que.

Drew was a man that loved his family. He was a great son, father, brother, husband and friend. He made friends wherever he went, and he was always taking care of people. Friends of childhood became brothers, and first loves of two wonderful women became mothers to his children. He always talked about moving away but his heart was with family.

Drew’s heart was golden. He will be missed by all. The world is a sadder place without his laughter and kindness. Drew had that smile that could light up the entire room and anyone’s face no matter what mood they were in. No matter how hard times got, he was everyone’s rock that held everything together.

Surviving family members include father, Gerald Courtney of Houston; mother, Becky Courtney of Bedias; wife, Deobrah Courtney of Bedias; son, Levi Andrew Courtney of Bedias; daughter, Hannah Michelle Courtney of Bedias; Hannah’s mother, Michelle Cawley of Centerville; brothers, Joshawah, Gabriel & Harper Courtney of Alvin; sisters, Sarah Courtney of Bedias and Elizabeth Courtney (Erik Bennett) of Madisonville and niece, Zoey Bennett.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. Memorial Services for Drew will be held at 2 P.M., Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Bedias, Texas.

Madisonville Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
