Lucille Barbara Scholz was born July 23, 1921 in Round Rock, Texas to Joseph Marion & Mary (Swonke) Kreitz. She had worked for Hughes Tool Company during WWII. Lucille was devoted to her church, teaching religious education and participating as a choir member and in the altar society.
Lucille had lived in Madisonville since 1987, coming from Cypress, Texas and was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening in her free time and later in life enjoyed going to the casinos always hoping to hit the jackpot!
Lucille passed away at the age of 100 years January 9, 2022 in Bryan, Texas. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Leon David Scholz; sisters, Cecilia, Clara, Regina, Josephine and Dorothy; brothers, Leonard, Al, Joseph and Buddy and sons-in-law, Daniel Busa and E.J. Marshburn.
Surviving family includes sons, Robert Scholz of North Zulch and Ronnie Scholz of North Zulch; daughters, Cheryl Busa of North Zulch, Joyce Marshburn of Plantersville, Brenda Kurten (Billy) of Magnolia and Tina Kimich of Plantersville; sisters-in-law, Dolores Kreitz of Hockley, and Shelley Scholz of Houston; grandchildren, LeaAnn (Alan) Andrus, Michelle (Tim) Goff, Daniel (Jackie) Busa,Stephanie (Kenny) Thomas, Kristi (Casey) Miller, Evan (Lisha) Marshburn, Amanda (Casey) DeLeon, Kim (Toby) Wedgman, Eric Kurten, Matt (Debra) Kurten, Jennifer (Shane) Busa and Lindsey Kimich; great-grandchildren, Dustin (Jennifer) Andrus, Payne Andrus, Kaleb Andrus, Luke McClosky, Jack McClosky, Chelcee Goff, Jace Hair, Jaylee Hair, Brenton Busa, Hannah Thomas, Hollie Thomas, Harper Thomas, Hayes Thomas, Jonah Miller, Liam Miller, Chelsie Marshburn, Saige Marshburn, Lily Marshburn, Shawn DeLeon, Haiden DeLeon, Cody Wedgman, Chloe Wedgman, Randen Kurten, Kaden Kurten, Karson Kurten, Madilyne Kurten, Jace Kurten and Keegan Kimich and great-great-grandchildren, J.T. Andrus, Jacob Andrus, Allison Andrus.
A funeral mass will be held 11 A.M., Monday, January 17, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Madisonville, Texas. Fr. Guillermo Gabriel-Maisonet will officiate the service and interment will follow in Willowhole Cemetery near North Zulch, Texas. A rosary will be held Sunday, January 16th at 5 P.M. followed by a visitation until 7 P.M. at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
