Lynda "Karen" Holmes

Funeral services for Lynda Holmes will be held 10 A.M., Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in North Zulch, Texas. Pastor of the church, Randall Smith, will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. The Holmes family will receive friends Friday, February 28th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas.

Lynda Karen Holmes was born May 13, 1955, to Alton and Lina Theiss in Westfield, TX. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 26, 2020. She was sixty-four years old.

Karen had a passion for sewing and crocheting. She loved to sew elaborate dresses, costumes and shirts. Baking also was a favorite hobby. She loved baking from scratch and would bake each person their own pie for Thanksgiving and Christmas. There was never a shortage of sweets. She loved to sing, especially hums with her mother. She loved caring for others and fostered fifty-five children in her home with C.W.

Karen was preceded in death by both of her parents. She was known by many names. Wife, Momma, Mom, Maw and friend were just a few. She is survived by her husband, Carra Wayne "C.W." Holmes of Normangee; sons, Joseph Schmidt and wife, Molly, of Normangee and Ross Holmes of Normangee; daughter, Terressa Douget and husband, Wade, of Normangee; five grandchildren, Elice Regini and husband, Cody, Taylor Creel and husband, Russell, Cullen Douget, Jacob Schmidt and Trent Schmidt; three great-grandchildren, Kimber, Ryann and Lilly; three brothers, Earl Theiss and wife, Peggy, Robert Theiss and wife, Linda and Daryl Theiss and wife, Brenda, as well as many nephews and nieces-in-law, cousins and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund or Hospice Brazos Valley.
