Maidie Madole was born July 26, 1919, in Nicholsville, Marengo County, Alabama to Sion E. and Sue W. (Parten) Whearley. The family moved to Grimes County, Texas in 1920 and then to Madison County in 1922. She passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at age 100 years, 5 months & 19 days. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 17, 2020, at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Madisonville, Texas with Rev. Richard Wagstaff, officiating. Burial will be at Madisonville Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, January 16, 2020, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Madisonville Funeral Home.
Maidie married Ross Madole on June 3, 1939, in Madisonville, Texas. The had celebrated sixty years of marriage when he passed away on June 27, 1999.
Maidie spent most of her life in Madisonville. She was the first secretary of First Baptist Church, a position she held for thirty-four years. She served with four pastors during her time as church secretary: Rev. T.R. Wagstaff, Rev. W.W. Baker, Dr. Lamar Cooper and Dr. Millard Bennett. She was an active member of the church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and participated in several different Women’s Organizations.
Survivors include daughter, Brenda Hill of Madisonville; son and daughter-in-law, David Ross and Dierdre Madole of Georgetown, Texas; grandson, Caleb Madole of Georgetown; brother, J.B. Whearley of Madisonville, Texas and sister, Oleta Potter of Crandall, Texas.
Maidie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Gerald Hill; sisters, Doris Whearley, Melba Dreessen, Gladys Batson and Grace Kuritza and brother, Reginald M. Whearley.
Pallbearers: Jim Madole, Steve Driskell, Lloyd Mason, Caleb Madole, Paul Kuritza, Charles Park
Honorary Pallbearers: Bill Parten, Cecil Parten
Arrangements are under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas.
