Marilyn Elizabeth Havard

Marilyn Elizabeth (Watson) Havard was born on April 22, 1939, in Fairfield, TX to Sam Wood Watson and Cloteal Elizabeth (Blount) Watson and made her glorious segue to eternity on July 28, 2024.

Marilyn will be remembered as a selfless lady who always looked after the needs of others. She was a very capable person who, in her fierce independence, possessed a caring and compassionate spirit that could be easily observed by those around her. She was a joy to be around and had a great sense of humor.

That said, Marilyn was also a tough and highly opinionated individual who appreciated a good prank and had a knack for saying what needed to be said to who it needed to be said, precisely the way it needed to be said. Brutal honesty was certainly part of her repertoire. She was a flowing stream of information and was passionate about receiving her mail on time.

Marilyn was a highly competitive lady who enjoyed playing volleyball. She was talented and played until she was eighty years old. She made many wonderful friends on the teams she played with and was a great contributor to their success. Marilyn loved her family the most and was an instrument of righteousness used by the Lord to reach into the lives of many. One profound example of this was when her daughter, Dawn passed in 2007, and she willingly and without any hesitation became “mom” to her grandchildren Crystal, Jason and Jonathan. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service for Marilyn Havard is scheduled for Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. in the chapel at Madisonville Funeral Home. Those in attendance will go in procession to the Willowhole Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will take place one hour before beginning at 9:30 A.M.. Pastor Wade Phillips will officiate the service, and son, Terry Dean will deliver the eulogy.

Marilyn Havard was preceded in death by both parents, Sam and Cloteal Watson; her husband of many years, Jack Havard; daughter, Dawn Lawrenz; son, Tony Dean; granddaughter, Crystal Lawrenz and sister, Linda Maness.

Those left to cherish Marilyn’s memory are her son, Terry Dean (Laura) of Madisonville; grandsons-like-sons, Jonathan Lawrenz (Emily) and Jason Lawrenz (Ashley) both of Madisonville; daughter-in-law, D’Ann Dean of North Zulch; three step-daughters, Jeacquelyn, Jeanne and Melba; two sisters, Molly Standley of Madisonville and Tommie Johnson (Bill) of Centerville; grandchildren, Dustin (Angela), Darren (Kaitlyn), Delanie (Sean), Aaron (Migali), and Philip (Cody); a plethora of step-grandchildren; a growing myriad of great-grandchildren; and numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends.

The final arrangements for Marilyn Elizabeth Havard are under the compassionate care and direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
