Martha Nell Dean

Funeral services honoring the life of Martha Dean, age 91, of Madisonville, will be held 10 A.M., Monday, February 20, 2023 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Rev. Jim Jackson, pastor of First United Methodist Church Madisonville, will officiate the service. Interment will follow in High Prairie Cemetery in rural Madison County. A time of visitation will take place Sunday, February 19th from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at the funeral home.

Martha Nell Dean was born October 23, 1931 in the Greenbriar Community of Madison County to Willie & Mary Erma (Norwood) Singletary. She was raised and grew up in this community. Following high school graduation, she attended some business classes in Houston. She and her late husband, Ray, raised their family in Deer Park and remained there until his retirement in 1984. They came back to Madison County and enjoyed their later years traveling extensively and visiting many destinations around the USA in their RV.

Martha was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, Madisonville, Texas. She was also a member and former officer of the Tri County Diggers Garden Club. Martha had a green thumb and enjoyed keeping lovely flower gardens at her home, as well. Additionally, he was an excellent cook and seamstress.

Martha passed away peacefully surrounded by her children February 17, 2023. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and husband, Ray Dean.

Surviving family members include children, Kerry Dean (Cindy) of Pasadena, Ronnie Dean of Madisonville and Vickie Kozel (Tony) of Richmond; brother, Edwin Singletary (Betty) of Madisonville and grandchildren, Kerry Dean, Jr., Joshua Dean, William Cody Dean, Kelly Dean, Cassidy Dean and Samantha Dean, as well as ten great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
