Oscar James Whaley

Homegoing services for Oscar James Whaley, 77, will be held 2:30 P.M., Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.  Interment will follow in West End Cemetery.  A time of visitation will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Oscar James Whaley was born on July 7, 1945 to Annie Sue Sanchez & James Olan Whaley in Madisonville, Texas. Oscar was the fifth child out of seven, four girls and three boys. He received his formal education from Marian Anderson High School. He joined in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Violet Mae Davis in 1954.

Oscar Whaley worked at the Coca Cola Factory, Standley Exxon and Drake's as a mechanic. Oscar loved fishing, working on cars and playing bingo. He married Violet Mae in 1964.

Oscar departed this life on Sunday, September 4, 2022 in Madisonville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie and James; his wife, Violet Mae Whaley; sisters, Annie Laura Cooper, Gladys Mae Thompson and Ella Francis Coleman; brother, Bobby Whaley Sr.; great-grandchildren, Ladarrian Byrd Jr., Jaylen Lewis and Avery Curtis and best friend, Arby Standley.

Oscar leaves to cherish her memories, two children, James Whaley and Cachandra Davis of Madisonville, Texas; one sister, Bettie Jo Whaley; one brother J.L. Whaley; nine grandchildren, Nefeteria Davis, Trinicia Byrd (Ladarrian), Charles Gilbert,Jr., Damein Whaley, Jamaniesha Whaley, Alexus Whaley, Tylor Whaley, James Whaley Jr. Jaydence Whaley; great-grandchildren, Alecia Byrd, Zay Gilbert, Jayceon Davis, Jace Gilbert, Jaida Craig, Alaya Byrd, Baz'Lyn Whaley, Draelyn Whaley, Camari Gilbert, Armany Curtis and Kasen Lewis, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
