Saree Garrett Decker

Saree Garrett Decker, age 70, of Madisonville passed away at her home October 12, 2022. She was born one of eleven children July 14, 1952 in Three Rivers, Live Oak, Texas to Cecil & Geneva (Biddy) Daughtrey.

Saree had lived in Madisonville since 1979, coming from the Houston area. She retired as a guard for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Saree enjoyed serving the county's local veterans through the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. She also loved working in her yard and gardening. Additionally, Saree was a former member of the local Madison County Crimestoppers group. Saree loved being with her family, especially her two granddaughters.

Saree was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Wilton, Ronnie, Cecil & Carlton Daughtrey. Survivors include husband, Larry Decker of Madisonville; daughter, Patricia Garrett of Madisonville; brothers, Carroll "Biddy" Daughtrey (Susie) of Waller and Lawrence "Popeye" Daughtrey (Shirley) of Needville; sisters, Janet Gray (Ernest), Brenda Schroeder (Danny), Adeline Ramsey and Connie Currie (Jerry) all of Smithville; granddaughters, Brittany Anderson (Hollis) of Huntsville and Kendall Kilcrease of Huntsville and friends, Celeste Parker, B.J. Himburg, Kathy Holland and Sharon Phelps.

Funeral services for Saree will be held 11:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Wade Phillips will officiate the service, and interment will follow in Allphin Cemetery. A time of visitation will take place Tuesday, October 18th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. A meal will be provided at the American Legion Hall in Madisonville following the committal service.
