Shirley Irene Goodrum

Shirley Irene (Upchurch) Goodrum, 83, of Bedias, Texas passed away on February 16, 2025. She was born to WD and Bernice Magnolia Upchurch in Alvarado, Texas on December 30, 1941, and will be fondly remembered as a kind and caring lady who lived a life characterized by gentleness and compassion.

Shirley was married to Kenneth Goodrum in April of 1963, and had a son, Shane, in November of 1970. She was a loving mother and grandmother that loved fishing and visiting with friends and family. She never met a stranger and always gave great hugs. Shirley was an instrument of God’s righteousness on many levels. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Shirley was preceded in death and is now reunited with both her parents and husband, Kenneth, who she dearly missed.

She is survived by her son, Shane Goodrum (Debra); goddaughter, Dell Marie Kemper (Danny); sister, Marilyn Piña (Felix); nephews and niece, Grady Wallace (Dana), Alan Goodrum (Amy), and Ida Lynell Lilley (Guy); grandchildren, Kelsey Finto (Tommy), Dustin Goodrum (Brenda), Lucas Finto (Leah), and Nicholas Finto (Hannah); and five great-grandchildren. 

A funeral service honoring Shirley’s life, officiated by pastor Nathan Hoke, will be held at 2 P.M. in the chapel at the Madisonville Funeral Home on Friday, February 21, 2025, followed by burial in the Bedias Baptist Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M.
