Shirley Irene Johns was born July 21, 1938 in Bay City, Texas to James & Bernice (Robinson) Brewer. She was the oldest of six children.
Shirley married the love of her life, William “Bill” Johns, August 21, 1953. She was a devoted housewife and mother and loved her husband and four daughters dearly. This extraordinary love and devotion further extended to her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren.
When she was able, Shirley enjoyed cooking for her family. Even a simple lunch was treated as a big affair. Holidays were especially a favorite of Shirley’s because all of her daughters and their families would gather at her home. Shirley greatly valued being surrounded by her family. She was particularly close with her mother, who she took care of until her death in 2011.
Shirley enjoyed reading, cooking, quilting and most importantly, loving her family. She and her husband had lived in Madisonville for the past twenty-five years.
