Sudie Mae Burns

Sudie Mae Burns was born July 5, 1946 in Midway, Texas. She was born to D.C. & Sudie Williams. She attended Marion Anderson Schools in Madisonville and graduated in 1964. She then went on and attended Houston International Business College where she graduated with a Associate’s Degree in Business. In 1966, Sudie married J.B. Burns, and from this union one child was born. She lived several years in Houston and worked as the secretary for Goodwill and Bradley Trucking Company. Sudie later moved back to Madisonville where she not only raised her family but also served as the assistant program director for the Senior Center in Madisonville. Sudie was baptized into Antioch Church of Christ and remained a member there until her death on December 23, 2018. She had battled health issues for many years throughout her life but continued to have a positive attitude, always believing that God would see her through.

Preceding Sudie in death are her father, D.C. Williams and mother, Sudie Williams.

Cherishing her memory are daughters, Sonji Josey (Elmer) and Susan Nealey (Lamar); grandchildren, Brandon “King”, LaToya “Punkin”, Lamara “Dutchess”, Tory “Princess”, Lisa “Queen”, Laneique “Precious”, and great grandchildren, Aniyha, Chloe and Zoe. Sudie is also survived by sisters, Lucille Allen of Houston, Thelma Williams of Houston and Syble Johnson of Madisonville; aunt, Grace and a host of other relatives and friends, as well as, special friends, Sue Gibson, Joyce Forrest, Daisy Moffett, Lillian McGilbra, Joyce Gooden and Jimmye McCoy, Sr.

Homegoing services for Sudie are planned for 2 P.M., Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Antioch Church of Christ near Midway. Bro. Richard Washington will officiate the service. Interment will follow in the Southside Cemetery in Midway. Visitation will take place 5 P.M. to 8 P.M., Saturday, December 29th at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas.
