Tommy Lee Vaughn

July 13, 1963 — March 2, 2025

Madisonville, Texas

Tommy Vaughn, 61, passed away on March 2, 2025. He was born in Houston, Texas, to proud parents, James and Josephine Vaughn on July 13, 1963.

Tommy was passionate about many things, one of which was NASCAR. He was a big fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and watching the races with him was always enjoyable. He intended on being a race car driver himself and had some good training as he rode hard in his beloved, green 1973 Mercury Cougar! He also appreciated the outdoors and looked forward to opportunities to catch the next big buck in his sights or throw a line for another lunker.

Tommy was very intelligent and possessed many skills. He was a talented machinist for years and will be remembered as a well-qualified “jack of all trades.” He was a crafty fella who considered time around the campfire as time well spent.

Tommy was very fun-loving and a joy to be around. He always sought ways to help others in whatever challenges they faced. He was generous and had no qualms giving the shirt off his back to someone else and he often made donations to various causes.

Tommy invested in the lives of those around him in very special ways. He adored his family and cherished his time with them. He especially loved his grandchildren and his grand-dog, Rocket!

Tommy was preceded in death by both parents and his nephew, James Davis.

Those left to cherish Tommy’s memory are his loving and faithful wife, Tammy; two sons, Tommy Vaughn Jr. and Levon Vaughn (Nicole); daughter, Kasey Nolte (Chad); brother, Ronnie Vaughn (Susan); three sisters, Sandra Stemp (Wayne), Marilyn Vaughn, and Karen Matthias (Curt); five grandchildren, LeeAnn and Madison Vaughn and Seth and Samuel Nolte and RJ Hampton, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends.

The family requests donations be made in Tommy's memory to Mental Health America.

Final arrangements for Tommy Vaughn are under the compassionate care and direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, TX.
