Vera Estelle Renfro, age 87, made her wondrous entrance into the world on June 2, 1937, in Navasota, Texas, to her proud parents, William Cody Beckham and Callie Mae (Willison) Beckham, and was divinely escorted to glory on September 24, 2024.
It was difficult to catch Vera at certain times of the year as she was out “cruising” the open seas. She and her husband spent a great amount of time on the water, and it was always a priority to get the next cruise scheduled as soon as possible. She also spent many hours around the table either with a Yahtzee cup in her hand, throwing down some dominos or putting the next word together on the Scrabble board. In fact, she was affectionately known by her family as the “Yahtzee-Nazee.”
Another one of Vera’s past times revolved around the levers and buttons on the slot machines. She also made trips to the tables on occasion. She apparently had a good poker face and a solid string of luck since she always came home a “winner!” Vera loved her roses and caring for them brought her great joy. She understood very well the importance of planting and watering, but readily embraced her front row seat as God made them grow.
Vera will be fondly remembered by many as an authentic, God-fearing lady with a big heart! She was an absolute joy to be around. She loved her family and adored her husband, Woodrow. They were blessed with sixty-eight years of marriage, and today they are once more together in glory!

Carl Williamson, honoring the life of Mrs. Renfro is scheduled for 12 P.M. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, and will be held in the Madisonville Funeral Home chapel.
