William Douglas Cole

Funeral services for Willie Cole, age 83, of Madisonville, Texas, will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. Bro. Glenn Connor, pastor of Elwoood Baptist Church, will officiate the service, and interment will follow in the Ten Mile Cemetery in rural Madison County. A brief visitation will take place from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. the day of the service.

William Douglas Cole was born on December 12, 1933 in Madison County to Alton Parker & Healon (Pope) Cole. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan from 1957-1958. Willie received an Associates of Arts degree from San Jacinto College and a Bachelors of Business degree from San Houston State University. He worked as a purchasing agent for Folgers Coffee in Houston for twenty-two years. He also worked as the insurance and financial manager, and salesman, for Wakefield Chevrolet Dealership. Willie had retired from the Brazos County Sheriff’s Department in January of 2000.

Willie was an endowed member of the Madisonville Masonic Lodge #740 and a past Master Mason. He was also past patron on three separate occasions for the local Order of the Eastern Star #193. He was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church for sixty-four years where he also served as a Deacon. Willie had been married to his wife, Eunice D. (Holt) Cole, for thirty-seven years and had lived most of his life in Madison and Leon Counties. He passed away on December 2, 2017 in Madisonville, Texas and is preceded in death by both of his parents.

Surviving family members are wife, Eunice Cole of Madisonville; son, Scott David Cole of College Station and his mother, Melva Dean Watson McDonald; brothers, Arnold Cole (Helen) of Madisonville & Alton Cutherel “Nap” Cole (Martha) of Bryan and granddaughter, Nikkie Michelle Cole. Willie is also survived by Jerry Gustavus (Mavis), who was just like a brother to him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ten Mile Cemetery, 7610 FM 2289, Normangee, Texas 77871.
