William Todd Downie

William Todd Downie of Centerville, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2025, at the age of 34. He was born on July 11, 1990, in Conroe, Texas to Todd and Denise (Brown) Downie.

William spent his childhood running free in the fields and woods of their Leon County property. There, he developed a passion for adventure and the outdoors. He adored his older brother, Brien, and shadowed his every move. He enjoyed family gatherings, spending time with his grandparents, and playing with his sibling, cousin and friends. He was a strong-willed child who never backed down from a challenge. There was always some sort of mischief happening with the boys.

William was very loving and kind hearted. He was protective of children and animals. He enjoyed helping on the family land and working with the cattle. He was mechanically inclined and could operate farm machinery at a young age. His love for hunting also began at the farm. He was an accomplished bow-hunter who was taught hunting safety, conservation, wildlife management and the responsible harvesting of food by his dad. During his adolescent years he participated in many calf roping events with his cutting horse, Buddy; he enjoyed traveling and competing throughout Texas. Additionally, he was an avid sports fan who followed the Texas Longhorns, and the Houston Astros, Rockets, and Texans. William was a man of many skills. William's mother always offered her unwavering support when he pursued his interests. As an adult, he worked pipelines, oil fields, farms/ranches, welding, and road construction.

We will miss his kind heart and beautiful smile.

William is survived by his parents, Todd Downie and Denise Scott (Rick); brother, Brien (Victoria); nieces, Ariana and Mason; and nephews, Brayden and Payton. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. William had a special connection to his mother's siblings--aunt, Diana Backus; uncle, Dennis Brown; and cousin, Clayton Brown.

William was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Marie Downie, Elaine Downie Gray, Dorothy and Jim Marquart, and Dan and Cheryl Brown; and his cousin, Clayton Brown.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Curtis Klingle will officiate the service.
