William Ray Malone, a longtime resident of Madisonville, Texas, was born in Madisonville on May 22, 1931, to proud parents Ray and Martha (Mejar) Malone and passed away in College Station, Texas on January 8, 2025. He was gifted with an extraordinary life that spanned 93 years, until his recent homegoing, full of moments to be cherished and characterized by service to others.

William was a patriot who enlisted in the armed forces at a young age. He served honorably in both the United States Air Force and United States Army. His career in the military was a good one that culminated in his achievement as a Colonel in the US Army Reserves. William went on to pursue his education, which he valued greatly. This diligence and ambition resulted in his graduation from Baylor University with a Doctor of Law degree in 1964.

William used his education to help people as he enthusiastically practiced family and oil and gas law in Houston, Huntsville, Madisonville, and surrounding areas for almost sixty years. He was an avid reader of books and will be fondly remembered by many for his high intellect and vast knowledge of many fields concerning law and history. He was always very generous with his time and more than happy to help anyone in need as he was a wholehearted workaholic. He attended St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church of Madisonville.

William was preceded in death by both of his parents and two sons, Alex and Ryan Malone.

Those left to cherish William’s memory are his daughter, Erin Malone; two sons, John and Nicholas Malone; four grandsons, Liam, Kian, Gavin and Ryan Malone; two granddaughters, Lauren Arroyo and Meadow Malone, as well as numerous other extended family and loving friends.
