Wilmer Lee Lawson

Wilmer Lee Lawson, age 78, of North Zulch, Texas passed away on July 23, 2023 in Houston, Texas. He was born on November 12, 1944 in Freeport, Texas to W.A. "Buster" and Corine (Glass) Lawson. Wilmer, also known as "PaPa," doted on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He followed his granddaughters from softball games to stock shows. Wilmer loved taking care of his cows, maintaining his yard and gardening to perfection. Although Wilmer also enjoyed fishing, his wife, Bertha, could always find his secret honey holes and catch more fish than Wilmer.

Wilmer was preceded in death by both of his parents; three brothers, W.A. Lawson, William Earl Lawson and Tommy Lawson; and three sisters, Tiny Jean Lawson, Geraldine Gonzales-Overman and Pauline Langley. He is survived by his loving wife, Bertha Lawson; son, David Lawson (Regina); daughter, Wendy Drake; grandchildren, Keeli Rogers (Kevin), Cori Barrington (Tyler) and Skyler Lawson; great-grandchildren, Cora, KJ and Molly Rogers and Case and Caelyn Barrington; brothers, Robert Lawson (Dianne), and Lynwood Lawson (Linda); sisters, Margaret Denman (Huey), Mary Tucker (Robert) and Louise Boudreaux; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral services for Wilmer will be held at 3 P.M., Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Bro. Kerry Stroud will officiate the service. A brief visitation will be from 2 P.M. until the time of service.
